Jason Dupre

Owner - Music Director - Guitar Instructor

Jason Dupre discovered the guitar at age 13 and it instantly became his passion, practicing and studying music everyday after school. After high school he enrolled in the Recording Workshop located in Chilicothe, OH, where he completed all three courses in Audio Recording. After returning home to Houma in 2000, he started teaching guitar lessons and working at a local music store. Shortly after he joined a rock band that toured from Texas to Mississippi and recorded and engineered their album. In 2005 he and his wife Kendra started Brushworks Art & Music Academy and he has been teaching guitar full-time ever since.

Becky Plaisance

Violin - Viola - Cello - Piano

Becky Plasiance started playing violin at age 8 with the Suzuki program in the LaFourche Parish schools. As soon as she saw the violin she knew that was the instrument she wanted to learn. In 1990 she continued instruction under Bonnie Le and started teaching violin lessons at her home in 1997. She has also taught at local music stores and SOLA in Houma, LA. She now teaches strings and piano full time at Brushworks and the Montissori School in Houma, LA. Since 2005 she has been a member of the South Louisiana Community Orchestra. She enjoys all typed of music but her favorite is classical. Becky feels she can express herself in music and wants her students to have the same experience.

Jessica Frickey

Voice - Piano - Clarinet

Jessica has always been singing (humming, anyways!) and interested in music since before she could speak. She was always part of the band and choir since elementary school, having the opportunities to participate in all-state, district, and parish honor choir/band. She has also enjoyed singing and playing the piano for different worship teams over the years since high school. She attended Nicholls State University on a music scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor or Arts in Vocal Music Education in December 2014. At Nicholls, she participated in many ensembles: choir (where she had the opportunity to be president for one year), chamber singers, and band. Teaching private clarinet and vocal lessons during this time helped her to hone her craft as well. After graduating, she was received the Vocal Music Major of the Year award for 2014-2015. Jessica has a passion for music and it's ability to allow one to express their deepest emotions and yet engage the logical side as well. It truly is an all-encompassing tool that helps students to grow in many areas and Jessica is passionate about showing students how to tap into that!

Alyssa Gaudet

Voice - Piano

Alyssa Gaudet showed an interest in music at a young age and began writing her own vocal music at age 9. She started private vocal lessons at age 12 before joining the high school choir where she participated in performances and competitions. She received a scholarship to Nicholls State University and participated in the opera, choir, and two jazz bands. Alyssa graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor's of Arts in Vocal Music Education. In addition to teaching at Brushworks, she also performs with Beau Autin at local venues. Alyssa won the local singing competition called "One: Singing Competition", and is now working on her first EP. Alyssa finds music and art not only a wonderful outlet, but also an important value in all children's education; and she finds joy in being a part of that.

Tamara Daigs

Piano - Flute

Tamara showed interest in the piano at age 5 when her mom bought a keyboard for her dad. The first song she ever performed was "Amazing Grace" at her home church. She then began private lessons with Mr. Howard Nixon from age 7 to 18. Throughout that time, she was also in band playing the flute and participated in many honor band, solo and ensembles, performances and competitions. Tamara then went on to Nicholls State University where she studied piano and participated in Symphonic Band, Symphonic Winds, Marching Band, Flute Choir and Concert Choir. In 2018 she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Instrumental Music with a concentration in piano. Music has always been a passion of Tamara's is she delighted to share her knowledge of piano and flute with her students at Brushworks.

Beau Autin

Acoustic Guitar - Ukulele

Beau's first experience with a musical instrument was with the piano at 6 years old. From then on, music became his life; at 12 years old he began lesson at the Tonalta School of Music in Texas, where he grew up. He continued lessons until high school, and found his knack for singing during this time, makeing the Texas All-State Choir in 2010. He would go on to study Music Industry Studies and Opera Vocal Performance at Loyola University in New Orleans where he also picked up guitar and ukulele. Since graduating, Beau has been performing 100 shows per year of his solo act of singing and playing guitar and piano all around Louisiana. Beau was also given the opportunity to audition for American Idol's Season 16 celebrity judges, an invitation given to only 300 performers out of thousands.

Chelsea Chaisson

Acoustic Guitar - Ukulele

Chelsea is a local with a love for music. Her parents were in a band while she was growing up and she continued their legacy by earning her Associate of Arts in Music degree from Pacific Life Bible College in British Columbia, Canada. After completing college, she has gone on to lead music teams in the church setting and teach private music lessons. Recently she has come back home after living as a full-time missionary in Cambodia since 2018. There she taught music and English. Chelsea is excited to be close to her roots and to be able to teach locals and to inspire a passion for music. As a teacher she wants to encourage students to follow their dreams, perfect their craft and to enjoy the gift and universally spoken language that is music.

Sam LeCompte

Drums - Percussion

Sam has been playing drums for over 30 years. Sam LeCompte was born into a musical family, he and all of his siblings play a musical instrument. After studying music at Nicholls State University, he began teaching as the percussion specialist for the Lafourche Parish Schools. Sam has played drums professionally in numerous bands for over 20 years and enjoys sharing his expertise in drumming and percussion with his students at Brushworks.
